Keeping with the Coursera theme I seem to be fond of, I found these self study non credit courses offered by Stanford through Coursera:
as well as a Computer Science 101 course.
The database course at least might compliment my efforts towards the Microsoft certification I mentioned in one of my previous post:
Microsoft Technology Associate (MTA)
On many of the job postings I find interesting, there are some skill sets that seem to appear on all of them:
Excel Expert and SQL/Database Expert
So how does someone who does work in a field that provides experience in these areas get some formal recognition of having those skills. IN doing some research I found that Microsoft offers some certifications that allows people to see you have the formal training and skills in those areas.
On the excel side, there is a series of certifications:
Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS)
– MOS: Microsoft Office Excel 2010
Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) Expert
– MOS: Microsoft Office Excel 2010 Expert
On the database side, there is a series of certifications:
Microsoft Technology Associate (MTA)
Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA)
Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE)
As time passes my fascination with numbers seems to grow.
I’m hoping that this blog will document my progress as I nurture this fascination with numbers in a number of numerically inclined fields.
